An Introduction to Equine Assisted Psychotherapy w/ Åsa Woodman, Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist, Certified Gestalt Equine Psychotherapist and founder of The Institute for Equine Assisted Practices.

This experiential course will give you insight to what happens in Equine Assisted Psychotherapy (EAP) and why this treatment modality is growing at such a rapid rate.

EAP is particularly effective for those who feel "stuck" in traditional therapy, or for whom traditional therapy is not effective or appropriate. It is an experiential and somatic  modality, focused on relating to the horse and to the environment.

This four hour training will be held amongst the herd, and participants will get to experience the power of the horse. No prior horse experience necessary.

The Institute created this course for local clinicians and individuals who are interested in learning more about partnering with horses as a form of treatment.

Åsa Woodman is a licensed Marriage and Family Therapist, Conscious Language Coach and holds certificates in Conscious Nutrition, Dyad Communication and Sivananda Yoga.
She has dedicated the past 15 years to working with adolescents and adults who suffer from trauma and/or addiction issues. She is trained in Equine Assisted Psychotherapy through the Gestalt Equine Institute of the Rockies.
Åsa is the founder of The Institute for Equine Assisted Practices and is currently seeing clients and offering trainings at Crystal Lake Farm in Gray Maine. She is dedicated to her work with the horses as she has witnessed multiple miracles unfold with her clients.
IEAP was born from an desire to get people trained in these modalities, and ultimately help more people in need.
Åsa is passionate about using her training and personal experience to help others move beyond fear and limitations to a life of freedom and trust. She is inspired by people’s capacity to over come challenges and is committed to her own deep personal work. She continues to study with spiritual teachers, life coaches and also finds wisdom in Native American practices. She believes that we all have unique gifts and talents. “Dream big and do what you love”, is her motto, which often becomes a goal for her clients.
Åsa owns Wizard, a Quarter Horse who is currently helping her find her wings. She spends most of her time at her barn, learning about herself through the eyes of horses.
