Riding horses is a partnership. We enter into this relationship with hopes and dreams of what we will accomplish with our equine partner. The horses don't choose, we do.
With this in mind, we believe that we owe it to our partners to be in the best physical, mental and emotional shape possible.
What does this mean?
Physical fitness means flexible, strong and body aware. It requires us to dedicate time to build muscles, increase flexibility and practice body awareness out of the saddle.
Your mental health influences how you think, feel, and behave in daily life. It also affects your ability to cope with stress, overcome challenges and build relationships.
Emotional health focuses on being in tune with our emotions, vulnerability, and authenticity.
Our mental and emotional health has an impact on our horses. They react to what we carry with us, no matter how hard we try to hide it.
In order for us to build a trusting relationship, we need to do our own work. Meaning, we need to get honest about our internal world.
Equestrian MH and Performance Psychology is about taking responsibility for how we effect our horses and doing something about it.
